Setting up a Facebook Group

We started on Facebook and we’re hoping that Street Champions can use the platform to organise their neighbours on a really local level.

The benefit to setting up as a Facebook group is that you don’t need to share your personal details to connect with your neighbours – you can all be part of one group through your Facebook profile where you can share information and organise supporting your neighbours.

We know that not everyone in your street will use Facebook, but it’s a great way to communicate with those that do and help your neighbours help those that might not.

Setting up your group

Postplanner has created a super simple guide to setting up a Facebook group, but we have some advice on the settings to use:

  1. Give it a relevant name – make sure it’s something that people will be able to recognise and understand what it’s focused on. E.g. Pollokshaws Road 100- 150 Social-Isolation support group.
  2. Set privacy to “Closed” – this means that people can find the group if they search for it and request to join, but can’t see the posts in it until they’ve been accepted.

We’re always here to support you, so if you have any questions please drop us a line at
